A funeral service for Bonnie Jean Swisher, 60, of Moron, Spain, formerly of Newark, Ohio, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 67 N. Fifth St. with Rev. William J. Rauch officiating. Burial will follow in Barnes Cemetery.
Mrs. Swisher died August 5, in Cadiz, Spain. She was born January 5, 1945, in Newark, Oh, to the late Ernest and Margaret (West) Williams. She was a graduate of Newark High School class of 1963, a graduate of The Ohio State University and later went back to school and became a RN teacher at COTC. Mrs. Swisher was a registered nurse and worked as a school nurse in a U.S. military dependent's school in Spain and Turkey.
Mrs. Swisher was very active in the parish at St. Paul's Evangelical Luthern Church. She served on the Congregation Council from 1983 to 1989, part of which she served as the first woman to be council/congregational president. She also served as president of the parish Women of the ELCA and held office in the synod-wide WELCA. She was a delegate from the Southern Ohio Synod to one of the churchwide assemblies of the ELCA.
She is survived by husband, Robert E. Swisher II, whom she married on November 20, 1965; three daughters, Kristin (Florin) Constantinescu, Megan Swisher and Sarah(Edward) Meyers; two sons, John (Jennifer) Swisher and Andrew Swisher; six grandchildren, Jasmine Swisher-Greene, Micharl Lindsay, Jr. Lamond Rhodes, Ethan and Ryan Constantinescu and Paul Meyers; and a brother, Chuck Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, M. Ann Williams.
