A funeral service for Gary E. Thompson, 59, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Newark Chapel Of Henderson-Van Atta and Johnston Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Hanover Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson, who served in the United States Army during Vietnam, died May 10, 2003, at his home. He was born July 16, 1943, in Newark, to the late Kenneth E. Thompson, formerly of Hanover and Elsie (Applegate) Brown.
Mr.Thompson graduated from Newark High School class of 1963. He was a mechanic for Buckeye Ready Mix. He was an avid bowler, a fan of the Cleveland Browns and he enjoyed driving race cars.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by children, Melinda (Ben) Poore of Channahon, Ill., Kendra Thompson (fiance Joseph Olson) of Shorewood, Ill., Jay Thompson of Shorewood, Ill., grandchildren, Michael Boys, Michelle Boys, Felicia Poore, Ryah Olson, Trenton Olson; sister, Linda (Jon) Keller of Cape Coral, Fla. nephews, Steve (Kim) Bebout of Portland, Ore., Joe (Patricia) Bebout Of Springhill, Fla., niece, Robin Heffley of Fort Myers, Fla. and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his significant other, Terry Cisler. |
