Richard Alan Funk, 61 , of Olathe, Kansas, passed away October 15, 2006, at Olathe Medical Center after suffering a stroke. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, October 21, at the pond in Northwood Trails, 114th & Ridgeview, Olathe, Ks. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choosing or the American Diabetes Association, on behalf of his wife, Mary Beth.
He was born July 27, 1945, in Columbus, to the late Edwin C. and Esther R. (Redman) Funk. He was a graduate of Newark High School class of 1963, was a member of Newark Township Voluntee Fire Department, and worked as a funeral director in Centerville, Oh.
He was employed by Heartland Controls and Performance Contracting Inc. He helped organize the Newark Ski Club, was past president of the Northwood Trails Homes Association in Olathe, Kan., as well as the local chapter of Quail Unlimited. He was currently on the board of directors of the Homes Association of the Country Club District (HACCD) in Kansas City, Mo., and a member of Pheasants Forever.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth, of the home; children and spouses, Alan (Colleen) Funk, of Overland Park, Kan., Matt (Brooke) Funk, of Olathe, Kan., and Lindsay(Brian) Meyer, of Baldwin City, Kan.; sister, Susan(John) Buechler, Kettering, Ohio; and grandchildren, Isabella, Rachel, Sarah, Mason, Bryson, Alanna, Tucker and Ian.
