My greatest recollection of Bill came from 9th grade. We both ran the 110-yd. hurdles in track; Bill for Central, me for Lincoln. Neither of us had any form. Bill's had arms flailing every which way when he went over the hurdles. So in a dual meet, his arms kept swatting me every time we jumped our hurdles and he won our heat. Somehow, I avoided those arms in the city meet and beat him out for 5th place. That's one win for each of us, Bill. I guess we'll have to have the rubber match in the hereafter. Rest in peace.
